2016 Beach Trip

I’m not skilled enough as writer to put into words how amazing it is to ride your horse on the beach.  Hoofs pounding, waves crashing, pelicans hunting and ships sailing all happening along the same stretch of sand.  Magical is the only word to describe it.  I am fortunate enough to now have had this experience twice and this time was just as incredible as the first.

We rode at a lovely private facility which has trails that wind through the woods, inter-coastal waters and a beautiful sound before opening out to the beach.  I took this trip with a friend and we were fortunate enough to be the only ones there that day.  We had ALL that beach ALL to ourselves.

Myrtle Beach Grand Strand just across the sound we rode through

We boarded the horses at a stable just a short drive from the island, which had some beautiful trails of their own.  Although they had quite a high feral hog population which led to an adventure that could be an entirely separate blog post if it were not for the PTSD flashbacks it would cause.

Before the “hog incident”

After a very full year of many many adventures, this was Tucker & I’s last trip of 2016 and it certainly ended things on a high note.  I’m filled with gratitude to have such a fun and willing partner in my life.

  1. I’ve had this experience too! Riding along a beach in the Highlands of Scotland, with members of my family when they came to visit. It was incredible! There really is nothing like it 🙂 Glad you could have, and share, such a wonderful adventure. Blessings, Harula x
