Great Horned Owl

“And when her halo broke, she carved the two halves into horns.” – Jordan Sarah Weatherhead

She may be a bit of stretch for the horns theme, but she was so beautiful I had to post her. It was such a perfect day to be out at the Carolina Raptor Center with my camera. It was cold out but sunny. The birds were active but even more notable vocal. More importantly due to the chilly temps they were all seeking the sun spots that were available to them. This put them in this amazing natural light that created some dramatic looks in the pictures I took that day.

The fences of the enclosures created some photographic challenges and you can see the lines of the barrier in this shot. I suspect a better photographer/editor could get them out, but post processing is definitely not my passion. So there she is, fence lines and all, and I still think she is gorgeous.
