CFFC – Touch

In the equestrian communities there is much information and even some debate on the use of bits in a horse’s mouth. Without getting into the weeds or the dos and don’ts of proper riding, in their most basic form bits are for communication. A connection between horse and rider. An indirect touch between a horse’s mouth and a rider’s hands. Ideally the touch on both ends is soft and confident a true exchange using feel.

  1. Interesting topic for “touch”! I used to ride a lot in high school and hated putting in the bit. The horse I rode had a type of harness that didn’t go inside of his mouth, which is what I preferred and my horse responded well. But it seems that in general horses don’t mind the bit.
